October 31st 2008 to November 2nd 2008 - California Steampunk Convention

California Steampunk Convention took place in San Fransisco from October 31st to November 2nd. Next year proves to be even better than the last, with the coming of Seattle’s Steam Con.

2011: The Decline of Wings of Steam

2011 saw just one blog post in April.   This would turn out to be the last blog post made on the site.   It was also right around when the Steampunk scene began to die, I’m not sure if the two were related.   The site and forums would remain up for a while, but the site would eventually die.   Steamcon would later suffer the same fate.

October 14–16, 2011: 3rd Steamcon

The third annual Steamcon was held October 14–16, 2011. The host venue was the Bellevue Hyatt Regency Bellevue. The theme was “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”. About 2,250 guests were in attendance.

2014: Steamcon goes dark

On March 9, 2014, a post on the Steamcon official Facebook page revealed that Steamcon VI would be cancelled due to a debt of at least $41,500 to Bellevue Hyatt Regency and other organizations.

The 6th annual Steamcon was to be held on October 3–5, 2014. The theme was to be “Mechanical World”. The venue would have been the Bellevue Hyatt Regency.

This was the end of Steamcon as we know it.

2015 New Beginnnings

2015: Wings of Steam rises from the ashes

In January 0f 2015 when the domain expires for the second time, it is purchased by a guy named Steven who completely redesigns and restores the website.    Videos, pictures, and audio are archived into the website and all original blog posts are restored.   Wings of Steam is reborn.

Author:
I am the webmaster of this website. I am not the original creator of the website. Wings of steam was originally created by a group of cosplayers at an anime convention. Their domain/website expired in 2013. In 2014, a year later, I personally renewed the domain and restored and redesigned the original website. I definitely do not take credit for the previous owners blog posts. They did an amazing job for a few years on this website, and should be given credit. They put a lot of time into Wings of Steam.
